How long will it take to scrap your vehicle?
This is the most likely part you are interested in. How long does it take for your car to be scrapped when will I receive the money? These are the steps to follow with an estimate of time:
1. Obtaining a quote takes just a few minutes. You can quickly get an estimate of the scrap or salvage value of your vehicle when you call us or fill in our online form.
2. Waiting to be collected – Usually 1 – 3 Days: Collections usually take place within a few days after agreeing on a quote.
3. Preparing your car for scrap. Take at least 5 minutes to clean out your car and make sure that you don’t leave anything (chargers can often be forgotten). Remove any decorations from the vehicle. It may take more than five minutes depending on how messy the vehicle is. However, don’t worry about cleaning it – it will only be stripped and crushed. 4. Collecting – usually takes 5-10 minutes. Although timings may vary, it is generally 5-10 minutes. You will only need to present your paperwork and sign the appropriate section of your V5C logbook as long as your vehicle is available for the tow truck. Once your vehicle is hooked up, the collectors will be able to move it to their truck. 5 Payment on the same day: the Scrap Metal Dealers Act enacted a law that states scrap car payments can’t go into cash. This is part of broader legislation to prevent scrap car theft. The money can be paid by cheque or directly into your bank account. Your payment will be processed the same day as your vehicle is collected.

How long will it take to for the vehicle to be scrapped?
After your car is collected, you can relax and wait for your Certificate Of Destruction to arrive. This certifies that the vehicle was fully drained, cleaned, de-polluted and dismantled. However, timings can vary depending on who took it and where the Authorised Treat Facility (ATF ) it was taken to. The vehicle will generally be taken to the scrapyard that day. Depending on the number of vehicles, they may start the process quite quickly. It should take about a day to complete all stages of scrapping once the car is started.
After the final crushing is complete, the Certificate of Destruction will be sent within seven days.
